Professional Learning Community
SLCS consists of a collaborative student centered team that focuses on teaching and learning. We value professional development, and are committed to the importance of staying cutting edge in order to help students reach their personal best.
The social and emotional development of students is heavily weighted at SLCS. We are committed to the importance of educating the "whole child.” We believe that academics and character go hand in hand, and holding ourselves responsible to high expecatations allows us to provide a solid and well rounded education for all students K-8.

More than just a textbook education
SLCS has developed standards documents outlining what students are expected to learn at each grade level and for each subject area.These rigorous standards documents are based on Missouri’s Grade Level Expectations, and serve as the foundation of all classroom instruction.The staff is committed to a systematic approach to the planning and delivering of instruction known as differentiation. We believe it is our responsibility to honor each student’s needs and maximize each student’s learning capacity in a supportive, challenging and fun environment.
