St. Louis Charter School is a tuition free Public School for Students who:

  • will benefit from a curriculum that is academically challenging which has been adapted to the strengths and learning styles of the students.
  • will be respected and valued for the gifts and contributions they give to the school and the community.
  • can contribute to a school atmosphere that is safe as well as conducive to academic achievement and social growth.

The St. Louis Charter School Charter and Missouri Law state;

“The school will enroll all students who respond by submitting timely applications.  If the number of applications exceeds the capacity of the school, a lottery will be used to determine admission.”

Initial enrollment for students who attend St. Louis Charter School is established through a lottery system.  A student application must be filled out and all required documents submitted in order to be placed in the lottery.  Openings are accessed monthly to ensure a fair and equitable opportunity for each applicant to receive admission to the school.  Preference is given to families who have siblings currently enrolled.

Lotteries are held on an as needed basis by the school registrar for available spaces in a particular grade.  Applicants selected in the lottery are notified via phone and in writing and need to complete and submit all required enrollment paperwork by the stated deadline.  If the applicants enrollment paperwork is not fully submitted by the deadline, the student application will not be placed back in the lottery.

Student applications remain active in the student applicant lottery until they are selected and enrolled or officially withdrawn from the lottery by their parent/guardian.

Once selected, the parent/guardian and student must sign the SLCS Family & School Sucess Plan indicating their willingness to follow the policies and procedures at St. Louis Charter School.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The First Round of 2012-13 ReEnrollment Forms for current K-7 students will be sent home with your child on Monday, March 12th.  The form must be returned for every student who is currently enrolled in K-7th by March 26, 2012.  You may either fill out the form sent home or click here: ReEnroll Form to print out, complete and return the form ASAP to the school office or to their Homeroom teacher.  All slots not retained through the re-enrollment will be made available to new students through the lottery beginning on April 16, 2012.

Note from SLCS Registrar

It may be hard to believe, but if you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten next year, the enrollment process at SLCS for the 2012-13 school year is in full swing.  To be eligible for the 2012-13 Kindergarten class, a student’s 5th birthday must occur before July 31, 2012.  To apply, parents are able to come in person, have an application sent home or visit our website's enrollment page and apply online. Important sibling information to note: siblings of currently enrolled SLCS students are given priority once they have a completed application submitted in the lottery.

Thank you and if you have any questions regarding the lottery or enrollment process, please feel free to come see me or contact me anytime at 314.645.9600x402 or email at cbailey@stlcharterschool.org

Sincerely,

Cristie Bailey, Registrar
